Easy Applesauce

With the leaves changing and crisper weather, warm applesauce is a must. From start to finish, this applesauce recipe shouldn’t take you longer than 45 minutes to pull together, and it will hit the spot for a simple, sweet snack!

Ingredients
  

  • 2 pounds apples 4-5 large apples, cored and cut into small pieces
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 Tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 lemon juiced
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 Tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon cardamom

Instructions
 

  • Add all ingredients to a medium saucepan over medium heat.
  • Once simmering reduce to medium-low heat and simmer for 25-30 minutes, until apples are soft.
  • Mash apples using a fork or potato masher until applesauce is your desired consistency.*
  • Taste and add more maple syrup for sweetness or more lemon juice for tartness.

Notes

*If you like smooth, pureed applesauce, I recommend pureeing with an immersion blender, regular blender, or food processor.
